LFPCSA C.I.C. (“Lost and Found Pets in Cambridge and Surrounding Areas”) is a Community Interest Company (No. 16817749) dedicated to animal welfare, pet reunification, and advocacy across Cambridgeshire and the UK.
Our work includes:
- Reuniting lost and found pets,
- Supporting responsible pet ownership and rescue operations, and
- Coordinating class action efforts relating to veterinary drug safety and consumer protection.
- Providing education and public awareness on animal welfare, microchipping, and responsible care.
This Privacy Policy explains how and why we use your personal information.
It applies to all personal data gathered when you engage with LFPCSA C.I.C. as a supporter, volunteer, service user, or enquirer.

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What data we collect
We may collect the following personal data:
- Name, address, phone number, and email address
- Details of your enquiry or case
- Adoption/fostering information and relevant personal circumstances
- Pet information (name, species, microchip number, behaviour, medical history)
- Volunteer or donor details
- Photos, testimonials, or images (with consent)
3. How we collect your personal data
We obtain information directly from you when you:
- Make a donation or enquiry
- Volunteer, foster, or apply to adopt
- Request help with a lost/found pet or scanning
- Provide medical or case information for our Solensia/Librela class action
- Engage with us by email, phone, post, or social media
We may also receive data indirectly through public posts or referrals from partner organisations (e.g. vets, councils, or microchip databases).
4. Why we process your data
We use your information to:
- Deliver rescue, reunification, rehoming, and fostering services
- Coordinate volunteers and community support
- Administer class action participation
- Respond to your enquiries and feedback
- Comply with our legal and reporting obligations
We rely on the following lawful bases for processing:
- Consent (for photos, testimonials, marketing)
- Contract (when you adopt, foster, or volunteer)
- Legitimate Interest (to run and improve our animal-welfare services)
- Legal Obligation (when required by law or regulatory authorities)
5. How we use and share data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
We only share data where necessary to deliver services or comply with the law, e.g. with:
- Veterinary practices
- Microchip databases
- Local authorities or police
- Legal representatives for the class action
All sharing is case-specific and limited to what is strictly necessary.
6. Security and access control
LFPCSA C.I.C. maintains strict standards of information security.
- All data is stored on encrypted Apple iCloud systems and encrypted local devices.
- Access is restricted to authorised personnel under confidentiality agreements.
- Devices are protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication.
- Permissions and backup settings are reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing protection.
7. Data retention
We retain information only as long as required for its purpose:

All data disposal follows LFPCSA’s internal Data Protection and GDPR procedures to ensure secure and irreversible deletion of personal information.
8. Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights, including:
- Your right of access. You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification. You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
- Your right to erasure. You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to restriction of processing. You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to object to processing. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to data portability. You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organization, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have 30 days to respond to you.

9. Cookies
When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered online, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device (e.g. cookies). They cannot be used to identify you personally.
These pieces of information are used to improve services for you through, for example:
- enabling a service to recognize your device so you don’t have to give the same information several times during one task
- recognizing that you may already have given a username and password, so you don’t need to do it for every web page requested
- measuring how many people are using services, so they can be made easier to use and there’s enough capacity to ensure they are fast
Our website uses only strictly necessary cookies essential for functionality. If we later introduce analytics or marketing cookies, this policy will be updated and cookie-consent banners will appear before any are set.
